Observe and Analyze Two Different Elementary School...

Observe and Analyze Classroom instruction This signature assignment is about observing and analyzing classroom instruction in at least 2 classrooms. The two classrooms that I chose to observed is special education and general education. In this assignment I will give a synopsis of my observation, how the instruction differentiated to meet the needs of identified students, identify strengths and needs based on research based practice, and I will suggest what are the next steps teachers can take to improve their lesson. The first class that I observed was Mrs. Blacks class of fourth, fifth, and sixth graders in a special day class. The lesson was observed from 10:30 to 11:00. The content was English language arts on root words.†¦show more content†¦Mrs. Black attempted to make some connections to prior knowledge for the students, but unfortunately, they were not connecting. Mrs. Black use the word spectrum as an example of word with the root word spect. The reference was the shopping center located here in Chino Hills; however, none of the students knew about it. My suggestion for the teacher to connect to prior knowledge by further probing the meaning of the word, a spectrum (glass when light shines on it creates a rainbow), etc. might have sparked a connection with some students. Mrs. Black used a selection of instructional strategies: board, word cards, chart, worksheet, oral, written, kinesthetic. However some of them werent responsive to student needs. For example, Mrs. Black used cards to talk about root words, adding on suffixed and affixed. She had cards for the students to manipulate which was a great idea. However, then the ideas was to tape the cards to the board. Mrs. Black realize that she needed the cards for additional words. She adjusted as needed, but the instructional strategy then did not have the same purpose she intended. My suggestion would be for Mrs. Black to write the word and definition of spect and sign on the board so students can refer back to it and that would have been beneficial to the student. After the students had put the words together Mrs. Black should write the word on the board because once the cards were rearranged, they had noShow MoreRelatedStudent Comprehension Through Vocabulary : An Action Research Project1533 Words   |  7 Pages â€Å"Vibrant Vocabulary† Increaseing Student Comprehension through Vocabulary An Action Research Project By: Nicole Grummert Crete Public Schools Fall Semester 2015 Research Methods, EDU 603, 604 Doane College Dr. Marilyn Johnson-Farr Table of Contents Permission Letter to Administration Permission Letter to Parents/Guardians Introduction Context of Study Purpose of Study Significance of the Study Personal Relevance Primary Questions Guiding Questions Literature ReviewRead MoreM3 Research Design Critique Report1300 Words   |  6 PagesCorrelational research and causal-comparative research are two widely used research designs of a variety of types. Strategic financial management

Introduction Strategic management is defined as the field of management that deals with the emergent and intended initiatives that are usually taken by the firm’s general leadership group on behalf of the board of the company. The strategic direction entails the specification of resource utilization, the objectives, mission, and vision of the firm, plan and policy development, and resource allocation for plan and policy implementation. (Hill. 2008. p. 479)Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Strategic financial management specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Financial strategic management is the identification of the best strategies that will maximize the market value of an organization. It involves resource allocation among the existing competitive opportunities. Financial strategic managers are supposes to determine the best ways to allocate the scarce resources In order to maximize on profits. Financial strate gic management basically involves financial, investment and dividend decisions of the organization. (Hoaghant.2005.p .7) The strategic position of Sony The strategic position of Sony was to regain its profitability by penetrating more into the market and reducing their operating costs. After recording their first loss since 1995, Sony in 2009 decided to take a growth-based strategic direction that was meant to develop their products and marked. Having made a great loss of 98.94 billion for the year ending 31st march 2009, Sony decided to restructure its organization. As part of the restructuring process, Sony made great changes by closing down eight manufacturing sites among its fifty seven, and downsizing its employee number by 16,000 workers. This was mainly geared towards reducing the operating cost of the company. Sony also changed the structure of its competitive divisions that included the manufacture of Televisions, music players, gaming consoles and electronic reader. This s aw Sony re-structure into two cross company units namely the network products and service group, and the consumer products group. The growth-based strategic management option entails product and market development, diversification and market penetration. This approach is applied with companies that have that can further enter the market by providing products that are suitable and acceptable. Alternative strategic direction There are several strategic options that an organization can decide to take. The specific directions taken by any firm at a given point in time entirely depend on the available resources of the organization, and the nature of the performance of the product in the industry. The major strategic direction options include; growth based consolidation, divestment, and harvesting.Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Consolidation In general, the term consolidation r efers to the act of merging many things into one. In business context, the term consolidation refers to the act of merging or the acquiring smaller companies into bigger ones. There are four types of business consolidation and these include statutory merger, statutory consolidation, stock acquisition and amalgamation. Statutory merger is the coming together of several firms that leads up to the assets liquidation of the firm that is bought and the buying company continue to exist. Alternatively, statutory consolidation is a coming together of firms that brings up a new entity in which all the involved companies stop to exist. Stock acquisition is the combination of firms in which the firm buying gains more than 50 percent of the entire stock of the firm that is being bought and both of them continue to exist after the merger. Amalgamation is the act of a firm being completely owned by another one. In this case the consideration is paid and the purchasing one survives (Patherick 2009 .p.57). This strategy is best used by managers who uncover the strength and weaknesses of their organizations through feasibility studies and come up with the best ways of coming up with one a powerful venture. Before such a decision is taken, thorough feasibility studies of the organizations in question have to be done (Justis.1979.p.35-42) Divestment Divestment is a management strategy in which the given organization reduces its assets for ethical or financial goals or sale of an already running business by an organization. Divestment simply means de-investing. Organizations can divest in order to do away with a line of business that is out of its interest in order to pay more attention on what it does. (Levicki.1984.p.1) Divesting can also be done in order to obtain funds or when the break up value of the organization is higher than the organization itself, then divesting can be done. Part of an organization may also be divested in order to create stability or to do away with a d epartment that is performing poorly. The final motive of divestment may de an order from regulatory authorities with aims of creating competition in the market among other reasons. (McKienan, 1992.p.49) When an organization is running a line of business that is not suitable towards attaining its objectives, then the most important strategic decision is divesting. This enables it to concentrate on the line that suits its operations well (Kotter.2002.p34)Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Strategic financial management specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Harvesting Harvesting is the complete withdrawal of the product from the market. An organization that is achieving its goals may make a decision of harvesting their product or service by allowing it to be completely eradicated from the market, if its market analysis shows that its performance is poor compared to the other products. In case a firm has a product that is not acceptable in the market, then the most important strategic decision is to withdraw the product or service completely from the market and fully concentrate on the lines of business that suit the given firm.(Madera, 2007.p.34-58) Recommendation Even though Sony expected their operating loss to go even higher to 120 billion for the year ending 31st march, 2010, they reported a loss of 25.7 billion at the end of the first quarter. This was lower than expected and the reduction was attributed to the operating costs that went down by 19.2 percent. In my opinion, I would recommend that Sony would have divested. Given that it handles a variety of products, it makes the company become too big to be managed. The best thing that Sony would do was to sell part of its huge assets in order to pay close attention to the divisions that would yield good returns. This would make the company more stable and the finances received from the sell of some of the business lines would be pumped back in to the main business. Restructuring the organization whose break up is higher than it self does not add value to the organization as such. In real sense it doesn’t eliminate the fact that the firm is just too big to be managed at divesting at such a point comes in handy as a strategic financial management direction. Conclusion As a conclusion, financial strategic management is a crucial management practice that needs to be handled very carefully. There are various directions an organization can take and each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. Managers need to determine the best direction because any cause of action taken has its own to impact to the organization, in as much as the attainment of its goals is concerned. This impact may be either negative or positive hence has to be guarded. Reference List Hill, C.W. 2008. The effect of the American culture on my use of language

The effect of the American culture on my use of language Cultures are different in certain aspects. Language is one of the cultural aspects that differ across cultures. Although I am a Chinese, I am able to speak three languages, Mandarin, Cantonese and English. The notion that I am an international student, having come from a very different culture implies that I have been exposed to different cultures where the use of the English language varies. Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The effect of the American culture on my use of language specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This follows from the fact that I have resided in the United States for more than one year after completing my high school studies in the United Kingdom. It is important to note that earlier on, I schooled in China where I began perfecting my knowledge in English. Based on this illustration, it is clear that I have encountered different cultural backgrounds that influence my use of language. The fact that t he UK and the US use different languages from the one I was used to presented a big challenge since I had to learn the language again. Although, both the UK and the US use the English language, it is evident that there are slight differences that become clear in the usage. When an individual joins a different place where the language used is not the same, it is sensible to learn the language used in the new location. It is thus necessary to learn the American English language in order to fit into the American culture. Learning the American English has taken control of the way I relate to my colleagues. This has become clear since, even amongst Chinese colleagues, the use of the American English is dominant. Further, the American culture has influenced the way we conduct ourselves. As an illustration, the Chinese people do not take direct commands, instead, they humbly submit. However, the American culture has forced those Chinese living in America to face off with people issuing co mmands. It is also worth to note that after coming to the US, one changes speech rules. By way of example, even though it may not be necessary to say a response, I find myself responding, an aspect that is ingrained in the US culture. As I indicated earlier, English differs across regions. As an example, the language version that is used in the UK is not the same as the one used in the US. As an English learner, I still experience problems despite the fact that I have learned the language for some time. I believe that some of the problems that I face are down to knowledge issues although others revolve around cultural aspects. The major problem lies on the idea that I began learning English in China. During the English lessons, the teachers did not take time to highlight any aspects of the American culture. As a result, I was not in a position to figure out how English is used within the American culture. Advertising Looking for essay on languages? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More As an illustration, when one poses, â€Å"how are you?† a Chinese is tempted to think about himself whereas, the expression is used as a greeting. Additionally, in the Chinese culture, there are limited responses to greeting expressions. It is thus little surprising that after coming to the US I have learned more response expressions. It is evident that culture is influential in many respects. As the paper establishes, since coming to California, I have been heavily influenced by the American culture. Specifically, I have changed my use of language. I have also been able to enlarge my knowledge of English since the version of the language used in the US is slightly different from the ones used in China and the UK.

Recommended Reading: Why People Share: The Psychology of Social Sharing How Can The Emotional Value Of A Headline Be Calculated? Emotional marketing value dates back to the 1960s and 1970s when government research scholar Dr. Hakim Chishti was studying the roots of several languages including Persian, Aramaic, Hebrew, Arabic, and Urdu. As it goes, his research found that there are basic underlying harmonics in language that are always interpreted with the same "emotional" reactions. Where dictionary-based meanings can be mistaken, the sound tones themselves are always interpreted the same way in our emotional response. This means that emotional language creates a very predictable response, something that can be very advantageous to marketers. A perfect score would be 100%, but that is rare unless your headline is less than five words. Scores are also classified by three emotional types – intellectual, empathetic, and spiritual. The institute provides a few details on what each of these emotional types include. Recommended Reading: How to Write Headlines That Drive Traffic, Shares, and Search Results Positive/Happy Emotions Do A Better Job Encouraging Shares Here's what our top 20 most shared blog posts look like based on emotional sentiment: Ten are positive Nine are neutral Just one is negative This is a small data set, but it appears the anticipation of benefits drives more shares. Anticipation is the feeling that we get whenever we find something (like a blog post) that sparks our curiosity. We immediately begin to anticipate the contents of that post and wonder what we might find on the other side. When it comes to anticipation, our emotions will play a big role in how we finally respond to our own curiosity. Anticipating positive (or happy) events sustains the output of dopamine  into the brain’s chemical pathways, and as renowned marketer Neil Patel says  "scientific experiments show that most people anticipate future positive events, as opposed to future negative events. In the absence of anxious/depressive psychological disorders, people automatically anticipate happiness more than they do sadness." Scientific experiments show that most people anticipate future positive events, as opposed to future negative events. – Neil Patel So, this all begins to add up. Not only do emotions cause us to share, but positive emotions seem to add an additional boost. If we look back to the  three emotional types – intellectual, empathetic, and spiritual – we can easily see a distinct trend towards positive emotions and happiness. In short, popular headlines don't only trigger our emotions, but they help us imagine a positive outcome. They help us imagine a better life.

Role of Mergers & Acquisitions in Organizational Change Research Paper

Role of Mergers & Acquisitions in Organizational Change - Research Paper Example It happens when an organization wants to enter into a new market or wants to lower the cost of production. Other organizations use this method to increase their market share in the market. This report demonstrates the crucial role played by the merger and acquisition in organizational change. Thesis Mergers and acquisitions play a vital role in the organizational change. This role can be developed if it is highlighted and addressed adequately. Introduction Definition Organizational change is the process by which a company or organization goes through change with an aim of remaining more relevant and achieve its goals within the right time, (Cassiman & Colombo, 2006). This change occurs when there is a change in business strategy, when an organization wants to rebrand or when there is a major change in parts the entire organization. These changes are important for an organization to remain relevant in the dynamic market field. The process of organizational change involves making bold changes and it may also involve expansion of the organization. Mergers and acquisitions play a major role in the process of organizational change. The issue of acquisition and mergers involves having a corporate strategy in matter to do with buying, selling and division of companies, (DePamphilis, 2008). This involves companies with similar entities coming together in the process of merger and agreeing on terms and condition of operation. A merger is slightly different from an acquisition. Takeover Acquisition is also known as take over. This process involves buying of the entire business entity. This may end up expanding the company that has bought the business entity, (Finkelstein 2010). Nature of acquisitions The term consolidation refers to a union of two or more companies to form a new joint business initiative. This means that none of the tow companies can survive independent of each other. It is also know n as merger of companies. We have both private and public acquisitions. The key point here is that acquisition and merger are done as part of the company’s strategy either in venturing into a new market of remaining relevant and expansion of the organization. If the target company has been listed in the stock exchange then it’s not a public acquisition acquisitions can either be public or private, (Mikael & Jani, 2011). Acquisitions can also be classified as hostile or friendly. The process of acquisition is very detailed and involves many steps. This is why studies show that 50 per cent of the acquisitions done are successful while others are not. In other words, acquisitions are difficult to achieve. The acquisition is perceived either as friendly or hostile depending on how the idea of buying the target company is communicated. In friendly cases, the negotiations are done in private that every deal is based on mutual agreement with the companies involved. In case of the hostile acquisitions the target company’s boards of directo rs are caught unawares. The company is sold without their knowledge, (Mikael & Jani, 2011). Hostile acquisitions can end up being friendly acquisitions with time. This happens due to improved terms of agreement after the procurement process. When we talk about acquisition, we are referring to a large company or organization procuring a small company. There are instances where the smaller company acquires the control of
